The highest point on Butler Mountain, Butler Mountain Bald is a five acre community reserve at the top of Butler Mountain for the exclusive use of the residents of Butler Mountain Highlands, its sister association Butler Mountain Estates and affiliated lots.

In addition to the incredible view, the Bald has a fire pit, picnic table, and trails, as well as numerous unusual flora and fauna.

Minutes of January 13, 2024 Butler Mountain Bald Meeting

Meeting occurred on 1/13/24 via Zoom. Officers present: President Sparrel Wood,

Treasurer Ben Gilbert and Secretary Benjamin Dimmitt. Present in the Zoom audience

were Steve Martin, Trevor Sandy, Karen Frye, Corwin Umbach, Lynne & Steve

Kestertone-Townes, Barbara Hearne, Laurie & Dave Serfas and Jane Langford.

Sparrel discussed the history of the Bald and the rationale for a 3-year cutting/bush

hogging cycle. Other maintenance topics included weed-eating, tree pruning, removal

and controlling of invasives like bittersweet.

Stan, who did the bush-hogging previously, will be replaced by Chad Martin and his

crew.

Ben gave the Treasurer's report (a copy will be included w/final minutes). We have a

balance of approximately $2,000.00. A new projected expense will be replacing the

fireplace screen. Suggested donation for residents is $50.00. Ben gave his address (72

Pinkerton Corner) so donations could be mailed to him or put in his mailbox.

Volunteer workdays will be the 4th Saturday of January, February, March and April.

Suggested tasks were outlined. Reminders will be sent out.

Ben offered to renew his position as treasurer and his offer was accepted gladly.

There was considerable discussion of events that occur now and could take place on

the Bald including creating a labyrinth, dog gatherings and enjoying the new shade

tarp.
